A champion isn’t always the winner of a competition, but rather someone who has a dazzling skill or fights gallantly for a group of people, or sometimes a group of children.
It’s those champions that Camp Fire USA First Texas Council will honor with a dinner and awards ceremony on April 8, 2010 at the Sheraton Hotel and Spa in downtown Fort Worth. The Fifth-Annual Celebration of Champions will recognize that unsung hero – the early childhood professional – who aids in the raising and development of tens-of-thousands of area children ages birth to five.
We welcome the return of keynote speaker, Dr. Adolph Brown III, noted teacher and motivational speaker. “Doc” Brown will infuse the room with an energy that will engage everyone in attendance and thank them for their relentless pursuit of giving children the foundation they need to start their life.
Along with an evening of entertainment, multiple awards will be given based on nominations from parents, early childhood teachers and administrators in Tarrant County.
Awards to be presented are:
- Tarrant County’s Child Care Teacher of the Year
- Tarrant County’s Family Child Care Provider of the Year
- Tarrant County’s Administrator of the Year
- Phyllis Jack Moore Professional Development Award*
* The Phyllis Jack Moore Award honors individuals who have impacted professional development in the Tarrant County community. Nominees for this category can include, but are not limited to, trainers, university faculty, social service/licensing staff, a community leader, a corporate executive, a charitable foundation or individual donor.
Nominations for 2010 are closed. Stay tuned for the announcement of the nominee finalists.
Hosted in conjunction with the Fort Worth Area Association for the Education of Young Children, Celebration of Champions raises funds to provide scholarships for the continued training of child care professionals.
Early care and education is the foundation for all future growth. Like the construction of a building, one must begin with a solid foundation. With your help, we can build a strong educational foundation in Tarrant County. That will be a Celebration of Champions!
